Off-Season Rundown Vol. 14 – OurSports Central

Uncasville, CT – DeWanna Bonner and CBK Mersin defeated Basket Landes, 75-59, in EuroLeague play on Wednesday, January 18th. Bonner filled the stat sheet with 10 points, eight rebounds, one assist and two steals in the win. On Saturday, January 21, Bonner and CBK Mersin won against Emlak Konut in a Turkish League contest, 67-59. Bonner finished with eight points, nine rebounds, two assists, four steals and two blocks.


Alyssa Thomas, Brionna Jones and USK Prague earned a 65-57 victory against Bourges on Wednesday, January 18 in EuroLeague competition. USK Prague finished the contest with a 26-12 run in the final quarter to come from behind for the win. Thomas led the way with 15 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and three steals. Jones added seven points, 10 rebounds and two assists in the win. On Saturday, January 21, Jones, Thomas and USK Prague defeated Hradec Kralove, 116-25, in Czech league play. Jones recorded a double-double with 19 points, 14 rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Thomas added four points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals in the decisive win.

Joyner Holmes and Sassari defeated Italian League rival Venezia 79-74 on Saturday, January 21. Holmes had a double-double with 21 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block in the win. Sassari have now won three Italian league competitions in a row and are in fourth place in the league.

Olivia Nelson-Ododa and the Melbourne Boomers fell to Bendigo, 81-76 on Saturday, January 21. Nelson-Ododa recorded 10 points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in the effort.

Ty Harris and Cankaya dropped a close Turkish League game against Antalya 07, 77-76, on Sunday, January 22. Harris finished with 23 points, six rebounds, four assists and one steal while playing in all 40 minutes of action for her team. .

Connecticut Sun players are back in overseas action this week, starting with Natisha Hiedeman and Maccabi Ashdod taking on Hapoel Rishon LeZion at 12:00 PM ET on January 23rd. Thomas, Jones and USK Prague play against Polkowice at 1:00 PM ET on January 25th. Bonner and CBK Mersin take on DVTK at 12:10 PM ET on January 26. On January 28, Harris and Cankaya face Besiktas at 6:00 ET; Bonner and CBK Mersin play Bursa at 8:30 a.m. ET; Thomas, Jones and USK Prague meet Chomutov at 11:00 a.m. ET; and Nelson-Ododa and the Melbourne Boomers take on the Perth Lynx at 11:30 p.m. ET. To close out the week, Holmes and Sassari will play Libertas Moncalieri at 12:00 PM ET on January 29.
