Seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams has named Serena Williams as the player from whom she has learned the most about tennis. On Thursday, Venus held a Q&A session with fans through EleVen by Venus Williams’ Instagram account.
In 2006, Venus launched a women’s only clothing brand and she often holds a Q&A session with fans through the brand’s Instagram account. According to Sportskeeda, one of the questions Venus received was to name the player from whom she has learned the most.
“You know it’s @serenawilliams. But I love watching others and learning from all players,” Venus wrote on her Instagram stories, according to Sportskeeda.
Venus Williams beaten in her comeback match
This week, Venus Williams played her first singles tournament in 12 months at the Citi Open in Washington.
In the Washington first round, Williams suffered a three-set loss as Rebecca Marino beat the seven-time Grand Slam champion 4-6 6-1 6-4. “Yeah, it’s my first match, so I didn’t think I played well a lot of the times.
Just a little rusty. I really put myself in good positions in the third set, too. Just trying to shake off some rust. That’s just to be expected. All I can do is just play another tournament and play better,” Williams said after the loss.
Williams, who was making her Washington debut, had a 4-1 lead in the third set before losing the last five games of the match. “Yeah, it’s so much fun. I wish I could have pulled this match through for the crowd and for the tournament.
But it doesn’t always work out. Super reaction. DC is a great place to play tennis, and Mark does an amazing job with the tournament. Yeah, it was so much fun to play in DC. It was nice to have the crowd behind me. Haven’t played a singles match in a year, so definitely a great experience,” Williams said. Williams is now preparing to play at next week’s National Bank Open in Toronto.
