2023 Las Vegas RB Will Stallings Jr. commits to Vols

Las Vegas isn’t a bad place for Tennessee football to find overlooked talent. The Vols added Cedric Tillman out of Nevada four years ago, and with no rating higher than a three-star and a two-stat rating on some services, he has become a superstar wide receiver.

Well, Josh Heupel has added more talent from out there now. Will Stallings Jr., a running back out of the same school Tillman came out of, Bishop Gorman High School in Clark County, Nev., Has now committed to Rocky Top for 2023.

A three-star on Rivals and 247Sports who is not yet rated on ESPN or On3, Stallings stands at 6’0 ″ and weighs in the range of 210 to 225 pounds. He announced his commitment to Tennessee football with a video and then a graphic on Twitter Sunday.

The Vols are obviously set to run back this year with Jabari Small, Jaylen Wright and Len’Neth Whitehead to make up the feature back, all-purpose back and power back. Justin Williams-Thomas is a highly touted commitment for 2022 who was an early enrollee, and Dylan Sampson was another member of the class.

Because of that, this is not necessarily a position of need. However, UT can always add some talent there, especially given the fact that a successful season by Small could result in him leaving early for the pros. Taking that into account, Stallings definitely provides some value.

Also, given his size, Stallings has the potential to be another feature back or put on enough power to become another short-yardage back. Whitehead is the only player who can fill that void.right now, so Stallings could fill a need. Here is a look at his highlight reel.

As you can see, Stallings is a one cut and run type of player, and he has great vision. In addition to his power, he also appears to have great breakaway speed, often outrunning defensive backs in open space, but that could be a bit relative given his level of competition.

Either way, he is showing a lot of promise with his highlights, and Heupel’s offensive system is even more conducive to him thriving. As a result, Tennessee football got a complete player for its future backfield. The Vols now have 10 commitments for 2023.
