TIMMONSVILLE, SC — Brenden Queen hit the road this weekend and scored a big victory Saturday night at Florence Motor Speedway.

The three-time Langley (Va.) Speedway track champion held off Carson Kvapil to win the South Carolina 400 late model stock car race on the four-tenths-mile asphalt track.

This is Queen’s first race driving for Lee Pulliam Performance.

“I finally won away from Langley,” Queen said. “Everybody asked if I was a one-track wonder, but we proved we could do it in the South. We’re going to bring this trophy back to Virginia.”

Queen was running third as the race drew to a close when leaders Mason Diaz and Sam Yarbrough tangled on the restart, putting the two out of contention.

Queen and Kvapil are left to sort it out and manage to stop Kvapil on the run to the checkered flag.

Isabella Robusto finished third, with Cody Kelley and Matthew Craig rounding out the top five.

Crowd favorite Dale Earnhard Jr. finished ninth.
