NASCAR and Dover live race updates: DuraMAX Drydene 400 postponed to Monday due to rain


Monday will feature NASCAR’s end to the race in Dover, while the DuraMAX Drydene 400 continues at noon. Reigning champion Alex Bowman, who started in sixth position on Sunday, is looking to defend his title. Hendrick Motorsports dominated the Drydene 400, and it made up four of the top seven spots this year.

Chevy driver Chase Elliott sits at the top of the NASCAR Cup Series standings with 2,017 points, with Ryan Blaney behind him with 2,013 points. The No. Elliott’s 9 car started from fourth position, while Blaney was behind him at No. 5.

NASCAR and Dover live updates, highlights from the DuraMAX Drydene 400

5:34 pm — The race was officially postponed to Monday noon after 78 laps.

5:23 pm — While the worst season seems to be coming to an end, NASCAR seems to be waiting to see if the storm breaks before continuing.

4:15 pm — The delay will still continue, and daylight will be an issue. With no lights in Dover and 122 more laps needed to make this race official, jet driers are still trying to dry up the course.

4 pm — Weather remains an issue at this early stage, and we’ll have a red flag as NASCAR tries to dry out the track.

3:57 pm — Stage 1 continues to stop under guard, and we are now in the 78th lap. Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, and Ryan Blaney make up the top three after staying out of the pit when Hamlin enters. Hamlin is now eighth.

3:51 pm — As the rain continues, NASCAR will try to keep going and dry the track for a lap. On lap 75, 29th-place Michael McDowell had a free pass as the pits opened.

3:44 pm — We put another precaution on the 69th lap. Denny Hamlin continues to lead, while Kyle Larson is still leading for the top spot. Chase Elliott was in fifth place.
