Mike Juarez named crew chief for Jacob Smith’s Madera Pro Late Model campaign

Madera Lunkerdaddy Pro Late Model championship-winning crew chief Mike Juarez will join Jacob Smith and Charlie Wilson Motorsports in their battle for the 2023 crown. Juarez led 17-year-old Jadan Walbridge to the 2021 series championship followed by a narrow runner-up finish in the 2022 season. Juarez joins 18-year-old Smith and veteran team owner and crew chief Charlie Wilson as Wilson Motorsports continues to expand its operations.

The Bakersfield-based team will compete in both Pro and Jr. The Late Model divisions at Madera Speedway in 2023.

“I have a lot of respect for Jacob and Charlie. I can’t wait to be a part of this team,” said Juarez. “Jacob is an outstanding young man with a desire to become a better driver and is eager to learn about the car.”

Juarez “learned a lot from Jadan about how to communicate with young drivers” and hopes to translate their tremendous success to Smith. Juarez led Walbridge to five fast times and three wins during the 2022 campaign.

This upcoming season will be the first season that Wilson and Juarez have worked together. Wilson will also make a contribution to Texan Tristan Pena in the 51FIFTY Jr. Late Model Series. Both Smith and Pena will compete in televised competition on MAVTV.
