Gran Turismo 7’s next update will feature 25th anniversary content

A special update is expected later this month, November, for Gran Turismo 7, which celebrates 25 years since the original launched in Japan.

December 23rd 1997, Japan, the very first Gran Turismo game was released.

Nearly 25 years later, Polyphony Digital’s driving game series remains relevant, with design by Kazunori Yamauchi still at the helm.

When the latest entry, Gran Turismo 7, launched in March of this year, there was a 25th Anniversary edition featuring a steelbook, slipcase and several downloadable extras.

However, now, it seems that every GT7 player will be able to experience some kind of celebration content, according to Yamauchi-san’s teaser tweet from this morning, November 20th.

“The 25th anniversary update is coming this week. #GT7,” read the post.

Details are currently scarce, as as usual, all that is publicly available is a copy of the tweet and a dark image of three car silhouettes.

More confusing than the latest clues, we won’t go into the details at this time.

Below, we think it could be another variation of the Nissan Silvia, possibly one of the later S14 AERO models.

The front of the car in the top left screams Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 to us, but the whale tail rear wing appears to be missing or obscured. If so, this homologation special will make it a franchise debut.

The vehicle in the upper right has no clear clues, let us know your guesses in the comments below.

The latest version 1.25 update added Maserati Merak SS ’80, Mazda Roadster NR-A (ND) ’22, Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 ’18 and Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (KPGC110) ’73 to the available roster and arrived on Thursday 20th October.

The last new circuit added to the platform was New York’s Watkins Glen in June, although new layouts for the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya arrived in August.

We’ll keep you updated when more information is published about the November update, which will be around the time of the Gran Turismo World Series Grand Finals in Monaco, November 24-27.
