‘World’s nicest guy’: Former Philly mob boss explains photo with Donald Trump on golf course

It looks like former President Donald Trump spent some time on the same golf course with former Philly mob boss Joseph “Skinny Joey” Merlino down in Florida recently.

How it came to be… well, the mob boss is the one who talks the most about this one.

Merlino, who was photographed standing with Trump and giving the thumbs up, said Trump is just a nice guy who will take a picture with anyone who asks.

“He takes pictures with everyone,” Merlino told the Philadelphia Inquirer. “He’s the nicest guy in the world.”

The couple were photographed together at Trump International Golf Club West Palm.

If that’s how the photo came to be, it’s consistent with what a Trump spokesman reportedly said.

“President Trump takes countless pictures with people,” the spokesperson told the Inquirer. “That doesn’t mean he knows every single person he comes in contact with.”

The Inquirer said Merlino was once “a leader of a violent crew rising to become the boss of an organized crime syndicate active in Philadelphia and Atlantic City.”

He was reportedly convicted of racketeering charges in 2001 and spent more than a decade in prison. He was reportedly sent back to prison in 2018 after pleading guilty to a gambling charge and was released in 2020.
