Busy Philipps celebrates Michelle Williams’ Oscar nomination

Busy Phillips honors his best friend, Michelle Williamsafter she received her fifth Oscar nomination today, January 24th!

The actress, 43, took to her Instagram to congratulate the 42-year-old after receiving his latest Oscar nomination. In the post, Philipps shared a photo of Williams in her teenage years, wearing gray pants and a black tank top with tousled hair while staring blankly into the camera.

“BRB- I just want to go back in time and tell this kid she wants 5 OSCAR NOMINATIONS in the next 20 years. 😭 And a BEAUTIFUL family. And be surrounded by love. (And GORGEOUS CLOTHES),” Phillips wrote in the caption.

“But tbh- that’s probably along the lines of what I said to her then. I love you MW. Proud of you forever for building the life and career you dreamed of, despite the absolutely overwhelming sadness of being human had you wondering if you could at times. But then you’d dig deep and try again. That’s one of my favorite things about you. You’ve never stopped trying,” she continued, continuing to add: “A new way, a new recipe, a new parenting style, a new author, a new approach to work, a new love, a new role…but always the same loving brilliant gentle sensitive funny wild thoughtful beautiful beautiful beautiful BEAUTIFUL you. ❤️🌟”

Williams was nominated for Best Actress at the upcoming 95th Academy Awards for her performance in Fabelmans, where she portrays a fictional version of Steven Spielberg’s mother in the director’s film, which was released in November 2022.

The actress is up against five other nominees in the category, including Cate Blanchett (Warehouse), Ana de Armas (Blonde), Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie), and Michelle Yeoh (Everything everywhere at once).

Williams’ Oscar nomination comes six years after she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Manchester by the Sea, which premiered in 2016. Her previous nominations also include Best Actress for My week with Marylin in 2012, Blue Valentine in 2011, and Best Supporting Actress in 2006 for Brokeback Mountain.
