My Top 10 Marvel Books With Multiple Firsts

These are the top 10 Marvel books with multiple first appearances that I am always on the lookout for. Some you will expect, others may feel a bit out of left field. Picks are based on sales data, cost, my personal risk appetite, and where I think the market will go in the coming months. Oh, and just a little bit of comic book trivia.

Note: I opted not to include blue chip keys like Fantastic Four #1 or Giant-Size X-Men #1 because I figure most people already know about those books and I have no plans to spend the money required to obtain those books anytime soon

First appearance of Kitty Pryde and Emma Frost (as well as Sebastian Shaw and the Hellfire Club). Two of the most beloved mutant characters of all time that I think are inevitable for the MCU. When that happens, interest in the book will explode.
First appearance of Okoye, the Dora Milaje, and Nakia as Malice. Book is super cheap right now and Okoye / the Dora Milaje have been making a big impact across comics, movies, shows, games, and more. Get in on the ground floor

3 Strange Academy #1

First appearance of Strange Academy and its students. There is so much potential for these characters and the series is phenomenal.

4 Young Avengers Vol. 1 #1

First appearance of Wiccan, Hulkling, Patriot, Kate Bishop, and Iron Lad. These characters have only hit the surface of their potential and are poised to become big players in the MCU. Long term, a very safe investment

5 Uncanny X-Men #120/121

Cameo and First appearance of Alpha Flight and most of its members (Northstar, Shaman, Snowbird, Sasquatch, and Aurora). Big MCU potential and Claremont X-Men is generally a safe bet

7 X-Men #97

First appearance of the Shi’ar, Lilandra, and D’Ken. This is one of the most important books in the history of the X-Men and Marvel Cosmic. There will always be a market for it.

8 X-Men #107

First appearance of the Starjammers and the Imperial Guard. These are iconic characters with huge story significance and tremendous potential for adaptation.

9 X-Men Alpha #1

First appearance of the Age of Apocalypse and its unique versions of the characters. Marvel keeps coming back to this fan favorite universe and it has easy MCU potential.

10 Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 2 #30

First appearance of Morlun and Ezekiel. First book in JMS’ acclaimed run. J Scott Campbell cover. So much value, so little risk long term.
