Chuck D unveils new book at Schomburg Center
25 January 2023
Livin’ Loud features over 250 of his paintings, sketches and drawings, and includes an illuminating written commentary in which Chuck D reveals his early experiences growing up in the turbulent era of the sixties, shaped by the prevailing civil rights and anti -wartime emotions. He continues to share his journey into the world of hip-hop, a genre that he helped curate, cut through and shape.
‘I was already expressing my political point of view through my art and graphics, so the bridge to music was a natural next step. At first I expressed myself with my head and my hands, and then later with my voice.’ – Chuck D
